Sydney Moss is one of the best female basketball players to ever play in Northern Kentucky. Friday night Moss made sure that her time spent dominating the local basketball scene will be documented for years to come.

Moss broke the all-time scoring record at Boone County High School with her 26 point performance in the Rebels’ win over Scott. She needed just nine to break former Boone and Northern Kentucky University star Michelle Cottrell’s record of 1,800. Moss just missed a triple-double with 26 points, 10 boards and nine assists.

Cottrell, a 1998 graduate of Boone, went on to set NKU’s all-time scoring record with 2,241 points. She was also named National Division II player of the year twice, and a Division II All-American three times. In 2006, she was one of five athletes named to the Division II women’s basketball 25th anniversary team.

After the game Moss tweeted out, “All my hard work and dedication to the game has finally paid off!!! So proud of myself! Leading scorer in BCHS history!

Moss is ranked as the 50th best prospect in the nation by ESPN, and has already signed to play at the University of Florida as a part of their highly touted 2012 recruiting class.

The four star prospect now has 1,818 points in her career.
