#2 Holy Cross vs #5 Holmes postponed

After making it through the first quarter of play with Holy Cross leading crosstown rival Holmes 15-11, referees stopped the game indefinitely for safety concerns after multiple players wiped out on the skating rink that was Holy Cross’ gym floor.

The excess moisture on the court came as a result of condensation from the warm temperatures inside the gymnasium.

After having unseasonably high temperatures all day long in a gym notorious for being hot, the problem was complicated with a sell-out crowd. Holy Cross’ Thomas B. Finn Activity Center was packed by halftime of the girls’ game that tipped off at 6 p.m., and many late arriving fans were turned away.

Holy Cross officials confirmed to NKSB that the game will be resumed from the stopping point, which will be the beginning of the second quarter, at the earliest date when both teams are available.

Vouchers, allowing the admittance to the continuation of the game whenever it is rescheduled, were issued to all who purchased tickets.

**UPDATE** The game has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 12. JV will play at 6 p.m. and the varsity game will resume at 7:30.
